Hi! I’m Lavonne (Love-on) and welcome to my blog!
January 2005 – My husband and I met for the first time and needless to say our experience with each other was not a good one. We didn’t speak again until…
July 2005 – I dialed the wrong number in my phone and he asked if I wanted to come see him. We’ve been together ever since.
October 2005 – We moved in together (we know now how quickly that was haha)
February 2006 – We got our first dog from the local shelter. We named her Zeda.
December 2006 – We found a pit bull puppy (about 6 months old) on the side of the road, my husband tried to chase him away but he just kept following him. We brought him home that day and named him Ruger.
March 2007 – He proposed to me in the living room of our first apartment. And interesting story that I wrote about here.
April 2008 – We bought our first home in Indiana.
June 7, 2008 – We got married. (this reminds me I should really upload more pictures of our wedding, it was so beautiful…)
March 2013 – We adopted Devin (our third and final dog)/
August 2016 – My husband’s sister was killed, her 11 year old daughter, our niece “T” moved in with us and we begun the legal process to get permanent guardianship of her.
February 2017 – After a 6 month legal battle with our niece T’s biological father, the judge gave us permanent guardianship.
About Our Infertility
September 2007 – I decided for numerous different reasons to stop taking my birth control. I thought it would be a good idea to give my body time to adjust. I also thought it would help my weight loss if I wasn’t on birth control.
In the 10 months from stopping my birth control I only had two cycles on my own. I went to my primary doctor (Dr. R) and had numerous blood tests only to have him tell me to relax and eventually I would get back on track. After 10 months I was finally referred to a specialist.
July 2008 – We met Dr H. (Our RE) He did my mom’s best friend’s fertility treatments for many years who now has twins after using a donor egg procedure. We made our first appointment with him in June, and got to meet him in July. He is an amazing doctor and regardless of the outcome I am thankful he was put in our path when he was.
– I have a chronological list and expenses of our fertility treatments listed under this TTC Timeline
section of the blog.
– After about two years, six medication rounds, and two unsuccessful pregnancies we were sent to a genetics doctor. It was then that we discovered I have Chromosome Translocation
. After finding this out we took an extended break from TTC.
2009-2014 – Some rough years, dark times, a few random attempts at TTC but nothing we fully invested in or ever thought would work. We changed jobs (me quite a few times), did some travelling and working on our house a lot but other than that these years are mostly a blur to me and you probably won’t see much on my blog worth reading from these years in terms of gaining any sort of useful information…
July 2014 – We decided to be foster parents.
October 2014 – July 2015 – We received our first two fosters, brothers. In 9 months we fostered 9 children. Although a rewarding experience it also proved to painful to keep saying good-bye to children we had grown to love and we finished that chapter in our lives.
2015 – Was spent learning a lot about ourselves, our marriage, and the strength in the family and friends we are blessed with. The foster care system taught me that I am just not ready to sacrifice having my own children yet. My husband and I are finally settled in our jobs and things seem calm(ish) for the first time in years.
January 2016 – We have our first consult discussing Donor Eggs with Dr. H.
June 2016 –
We were matched with our donor. Our Donor Egg process is documented here
Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have any questions!!
